Redwood Ranger Summer Programs

Summer is a great time to get your feet wet and explore the wild places all around us. This year, children of all ages (5-18) and K-12 teachers can join TreeUtah for a Redwood Ranger Adventure Day at our Redwood Nature Area restoration site. Participants will be naturalists for the day learning about native trees and wildlife along the Jordan River – we’ll wade in wetlands, explore trees and ecosystems, and discover the unique environments that can be found in our backyards. Adventure Days will take place in late July, each session is 3 to 4 hours long.

Bear River Celebration teaches youth about water quality

On June 8, 2013 youth of all ages learned about water conservation, water quality, and wildlife at the 12th Annual Bear River Celebration and free fishing day.

USU Hands-on science camp for kids

Teen students were taught water monitoring techniques at a science summer camp at USU Vernal.  This two day camp used hands-on-science to help get students excited about science.

Utah hosts Miss America in Salt Lake City, promoting women in STEM

Utah EPSCoR, along with Prosperity 2020, USTAR and The Leonardo hosted Mallory Hagan, the reigning Miss America, in Salt Lake City on May 10, 2013 in an effort to promote Utah women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education. Hagan, who studied bio-medical science at Auburn University for one year before changing directions and moving into the marketing area, spoke on the importance of igniting an interest in science at an early age.
