2016 SACNAS National ConferenceThe 2016 SACNAS National Conference will be held October 13-15, 2016 at the Long Beach Convention Center Long Beach, CA. The SACNAS National Conference motivates, inspires and engages participants to achieve their highest goals in pursuing education and careers in STEM fields. Conference programming is specifically tailored to support undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and career professionals at each transition stage of their career as they move towards positions of science leadership.

Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science workshopsiUTAH EPSCoR, along with USU’s Office of Research and Graduate Studies and the U’s Vice President for Research office, is co-sponsoring two exciting new science communications events this fall. The Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science will present workshops on crafting short and clear messages for technical material to non-scientists. Participants will practice clarity in speaking to non-scientists about their work while engaging in improvisational exercises or explaining scientific material to lay people. The open plenary sessions will take place on both the USU and University of Utah campus, and are free and open to the public. Both events will be broadcast live at the times listed below. Presentation on Cache Co. Water Conservancy DistrictUtah State University will host Bob Fotheringham, the water manager for Cache County, who will give a presentation on the ballot measure concerning formation of a Water Conservancy District for Cache Co. The presentation will take place on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Emert Auditorium (Room 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU campus.
