2015 AISES National Conference

The 2015 American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) National Conference wil be held November 19-21, 2015 at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, AZ. The Annual AISES National Conference is a one-of-kind, three-day event focusing on educational, professional and workforce development! Attendees include American Indian high school and college students, educators, professionals, tribal nations and tribal enterprises, universities, corporations, and government agencies.

9th Annual Salt Lake County Watershed Symposium

The 2015 Salt Lake County Watershed Symposium will be held at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center in West Valley City. This event is free and open to everyone, the Watershed Symposium brings together water quality experts, policy makers, environmental advocates, industry, academics, students, and the public. Confluence 2015: Preparing for Utah's Water Future

Confluence 2015: Preparing for Utah's Water Future The Weber River Partnership will be held November 12-13, 2015 at the Eccles Conference Center. This year's symposium will include a keynote address from Randy Julander with the NRCS, and will include three workshops that cover Riparian Grazing Strategies, Water Use and Delivery and River, Stream and Habitat Restoration. We will also host a technical session covering topics ranging from basin wide habitat modeling to the state water plan.

Science Unwrapped: "iUTAH: Science for Utah's Water Future"

USU biology professor Michelle Baker, director of Utah’s statewide, National Science Foundation-funded iUTAH program, featured speaker at Science Unwrapped a outreach series that provides hands-on science learning fun for inquiring minds of all ages. November 6, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. in the Emert Auditorium (Room 130) of the Eccles Science Learning Center on the USU campus.

Guest Lecture: Brian Richter "Chasing Water in a Rapidly Changing World"

On October 28, 2015 at 4pm at USU Brian Richter will be speaking about "Chasing Water in a Rapidly Changing World". B rian Richter is Chief Scientist for the water program of The Nature Conservancy, where he promotes sustainable water use and management with governments, corporations and communities. He is also president of Sustainable Waters, a global water education organization, and has consulted on more than 120 water projects worldwide. Richter has developed numerous scientific tools and methods to support river protection and restoration, including the Indicators of Hydrologic Alteration software which is used internationally. He is the author of Chasing Water: A Guide for Moving from Scarcity to Sustainability and co-author, with Sandra Postel, of Rivers for Life: Managing Water for People and Nature.
